Little Buddha

"Jesse Konrad is just a typical American boy, or so he thinks - until a deputation of Buddist monks arrive on his doorstep from the isolated kingdom of Bhutan, high in the Himalayas. They believe Jesse to be the reincarnation of one of their most respected priests. His parents are not so sure.

Incredulous but curious, the Konrads welcome the monks and allow them to spend time with Jesse. When his father, Dean, finds himself facing a personal crisis, he decides to accompany Jesse to Bhutan, to the roof of the world.

They travel not only to a vastly different world but back in time to the dawn of Buddhism two and a half thousand years ago, to the colourful court of Prince Siddharta as he begins his journey towards becoming Buddha.
